What is the Andrew Rule™?
I have long had an unwritten rule that the best way to relieve stress, relax, and keep in the best of moods has always been to get away from where you live. Nothing is better than wandering a city that you don't see every day, staying in a hotel where they make the bed for you, and generally just getting some fresh air.
However, in January 2008 (on my 22nd birthday) I decided to make this a written rule. From that day forward, I made it a rule that as best I could, I needed to travel somewhere at least once a month away from home. That did not mean a different state, but I physically had to spend the night away from home. While some might say that it is a waste of money or that it lessens the excitement of going on a vacation; I highly disagree. As you can see (with the exception of my parents house in Denver, Colorado) I do a good job seeing new places and making the trip random. In fact, more than half the flights/drives on this page were booked or planned less than a month in advance.
Just surpassing the two year mark this past January, I am 21 for 27 (with 2 of the times being when family was visiting me instead) and 30 trips in 27 months! I don't plan on stopping this goal anytime soon, even if I happen to move somewhere else this autumn. And all of this could have not been done without my lovely travel- aholic Erin and random people from around the world letting me visit them and stay with them. Here is to many, many more trips!
